Diner at La Roseraie, Chenonceaux

It was hot when we arrived at the hotel, so we went for a swim at the swimming pool. We then changed and arrived in time for dinner. The restaurant was amazing. We decided to go with the €27 menu and they made pasta with vegetables at our son's request. We both chose the onion soup (exquisite), followed by lamb rissole (pieces of lamb were placed more like a piece of art rather than a plate) served with confit of onions, green vegetables, mushroom tulip and spinach flan, this was spectacular and the taste couldn't be described; it was so good. My husband went with a creme brulee and our son had my desert and he chose ice cream. All accompanied by a very excellent local wine, such a spectacular meal for under €90. It was the best dinner of all our vacations. At 9pm, the clientele was mostly French families and couples. One family was celebrating a birthday.
We stayed at La Roseraie in June 2010. The owners have changed since, so you may want to consult Tripadvisor for most recent reviews.

Lunch at Hostellerie de Malleville, Beynac, Dordogne

We headed to Beynac for a visit. When we arrived we found they had cruises there and Montgolfier. We found parking easily, but 30 minutes later it was completely full. The next cruise was not before 2pm, so we chose the restaurant on the water for lunch. Despite the touristy location the menu was good and the food was very good. It was actually cheaper than other places there (only €15) and we had a foie gras followed by duck confit very crispy and much better than the one in Sarlat, then I had a cabecou on salad with walnuts and my husband chose a walnut cake which came with a English cream on a side.

Our son had a child menu which included a buffet entree with choice of salads and sausages, bread and butter, followed by a ground meat steak which I asked to be cooked longer and an ice cream in pistachio flavor. With a pitcher of house wine.
At the end of our meal we just walked to the boat and sat for the excursion.
